The Slippery Slope Just Got More Slippery!

When our country was born over 232 years ago great pains were taken to keep the Federal Government from becoming “centralized” with great power. The Constitution was written granting the Federal government with limited powers and all else was given to the states. The primary responsibility of the Federal Government was the security and protection of the people. National defense and treaty making with other governments was primary. If you haven’t read the Constitution of the United States lately, I would suggest that this might be a very good time to do it.

Over the years “case law” and the Congress have moved more and more power to the Federal Government that the founders of this nation knew would be dangerous. Unless we stop this downward spiral very soon our nation will not be recognizable to most of us, and it will, maybe already is, a foreign entity from what the founders envisioned.

Last week Congress spend money, not their money, YOUR money and MY money. And it appears that they are going to continue to find ways to spend money that, quite honestly, is not there.

It is time for all Americans who love the free market economy, that this nation was founded upon, to speak out, and speak out loudly. It is time to realize that politicians are using our economy to buy votes. If you go out and try to pay someone to vote for your candidate you will be charged with a felony. So where is the difference?!?! The quote by Thomas Jefferson on the header of this blog is true and should be learned by every American . . . “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have.” Both presidential candidates are promising more than they can deliver or should deliver. We have moved from a people of work to a people of entitlement. This will be the downfall of our great nation.

A friend sent me one more quote tonight that I will close this post with: “The reason congressmen try so hard to get re-elected is that they would hate to have to make a living under the laws they’ve passed.” I fear that is not far from the truth!
