Abortion Still Matters–And this makes me sick!

October 30, 2008

Remember as you listen to this clip of Barack Obama speaking to Planned Parenthood, the biggest abortion provider in America, that his plans to “change this nation” includes the continued and expanded killing of babies. The “Freedom of Choice Act” is really the freedom to kill act. The culture of death is choking the culture of life which is encoded in our Constitution and Declaration of Independence not to mention the Bible.

Or if you think maybe this clip is “out of context” please feel free to listen to the entire speech.

Better in Theory than Practice??

Rick McKee, editorial cartoonist of the Augusta Chronicle ,hits the nail on the head. His cartoons are worth bookmarking. Take a look HERE.

This is too funny — just who does Nicholas Kristof really work for???

October 28, 2008

The New York Times has been an organ of the Obama campaign for two years. Kristof has twisted the truth with each article he has written. This may be the biggest whopper yet, even for Kristof. It is so ridiculous it is funny. Kristof is making up stuff out of his own imagination. Read the Wall Street Journal statement about it and then read Kristof, you will either laugh, cry or be sick. By the way if you want to know how “non-partisan” The NYTs has been for the past 150 years or so then go and read: New York Times Endorsements Through the Ages. (this may require a free registration to read — it is worth it!)

From The Best of the Web Today

“John McCain isn’t boasting about a new endorsement, one of the very, very few he has received from overseas,” writes Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times:

It came a few days ago:

“Al Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming election,” read a commentary on a password-protected Islamist Web site that is closely linked to Al Qaeda and often disseminates the group’s propaganda.

Some McCain supporters are skeptical of this endorsement’s authenticity, but we are not. After all, Kristof works for the New York Times, not some fly-by-night outfit like CBS News. If he reports that al Qaeda endorsed McCain, we have confidence that he knows it to be true. Which does raise one question:

Why did al Qaeda give Nick Kristof the password to its Web site?

Thomas Sowell on justice and the law

October 28, 2008

As usual Thomas Sowell has shown his intellectual strength as he examines the type of judges, and Supreme Court justices, will be named by each presidential candidate. In his most recent post at National Review Online he argues against the idea of the Constitution being a “living document.” In the article Judge This Sowell says:

The Constitution of the United States will not mean much if judges carry out Obama’s vision of the Constitution as “a living document”— that is, something that judges should feel free to change by “interpretation” to favor particular individuals, groups or causes.

That’s not “a living Constitution.” That’s a dying Constitution — and an Obama presidency can kill it off.

Read the whole article, it’s brief but very worthwhile. Click here to READ it.

In 1987 Dr. Sowell wrote a book entitled A Conflict of Visions: Ideological Origins of Political Struggles. The National Review Online is doing a series of interviews with Dr. Sowell on this book which is still as relevant today as it was then. You can watch the interview on judges by clicking HERE AND WATCHING.

Obama in his own words

October 27, 2008

I thought the series from Investor’s Business Daily was pretty right on in it’s assessment of Obama’s policy and “change” dreams for America. Dreams that will make the U.S.A. far different from anything that the Founders intended. But now it seems that Obama actually thinks the Constitution is part of the problem. In fact he believes, from an interview in 2001 that, according to his own words, the Constitution of the U.S. —

“. . . is a document of negative liberties, says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted.”

In speaking of the Warren Court (the Supreme Court under Chief Justice Earl Warren), clearly the most liberal and radical terms of the Court he said this:

“The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of basic issues of political and economic justice in this society, and to that extent as radical as people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical,”

“It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as it has been interpreted.”

Do we really want a court that “breaks free from the essential constraints placed on it . . . in the Constitution“? I fear that what Obama says in this interview is a foretaste of what we can expect if he is elected President, with a filibuster-proof Senate. Please listen to this carefully and pass it on to all who might be considering to vote for Obama. The Constitution of the United States will be his target if elected.

Audacity of Socialism — Rerun

October 25, 2008

UPDATE: This is a re-post from from September, but it has been pushed off the front page and in these last days before the election these are very, very important articles that should be widely read.

The Investor’s Business Daily has written a series of articles The Audacity of Socialism examining the past and present of Senator Obama.

It should be required reading for all who are “just not sure” about this years Presidential race in the U.S. Or those who need ammo for discussions with your friends or co-workers.

A Letter from a Christian in 2012 Obama’s America

October 23, 2008

What will our nation look like in 2012 after four years of an Obama presidency? Of course, no one can know for sure, but as this letter states you can make some pretty good predictions based on past policy stances of Senator Obama. I urge you to take time to read this rather lengthy letter. Click HERE to download the PDF file.

Yes, Abortion is a major issue for me, always will be

October 17, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama’s views on life issues ranging from abortion to embryonic stem cell research mark him as not merely a pro-choice politician, but rather as the most extreme pro-abortion candidate to have ever run on a major party ticket.

Barack Obama is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States. He is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate. Indeed, he is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress.”

With these words Robert George opened his outstanding article Obama’s Abortion Extremism. We are facing the possibility of the culture of death coming to power in our nation. If life is important to you I urge you to read all of Dr. George’s article.

UPDATE: Dr. George really is a remarkable scholar. His book The Clash of Orthodoxies in 2001 remains must reading for anyone wanting to understand the crisis in law, religion and morality. I just found that he has written another article on Senator Obama and the life issues. Be sure and read Obama and Infanticide.

The Slippery Slope Just Got More Slippery!

October 14, 2008

When our country was born over 232 years ago great pains were taken to keep the Federal Government from becoming “centralized” with great power. The Constitution was written granting the Federal government with limited powers and all else was given to the states. The primary responsibility of the Federal Government was the security and protection of the people. National defense and treaty making with other governments was primary. If you haven’t read the Constitution of the United States lately, I would suggest that this might be a very good time to do it.

Over the years “case law” and the Congress have moved more and more power to the Federal Government that the founders of this nation knew would be dangerous. Unless we stop this downward spiral very soon our nation will not be recognizable to most of us, and it will, maybe already is, a foreign entity from what the founders envisioned.

Last week Congress spend money, not their money, YOUR money and MY money. And it appears that they are going to continue to find ways to spend money that, quite honestly, is not there.

It is time for all Americans who love the free market economy, that this nation was founded upon, to speak out, and speak out loudly. It is time to realize that politicians are using our economy to buy votes. If you go out and try to pay someone to vote for your candidate you will be charged with a felony. So where is the difference?!?! The quote by Thomas Jefferson on the header of this blog is true and should be learned by every American . . . “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have.” Both presidential candidates are promising more than they can deliver or should deliver. We have moved from a people of work to a people of entitlement. This will be the downfall of our great nation.

A friend sent me one more quote tonight that I will close this post with: “The reason congressmen try so hard to get re-elected is that they would hate to have to make a living under the laws they’ve passed.” I fear that is not far from the truth!

Free Press? Or folding to pressure?

October 7, 2008

I may be confessing a dark side of my personality but I like Saturday Night Live. Not all of it, but its political satire, while most of the time attacking my point of view, is usually really, really funny. I don’t get to watch SNL because of the fact it is on Saturday night, late. But I always go on Sunday afternoon or Monday and watch the political skits. You can watch them on NBC.com and also on Hulu.com.

This past week they had one of the funniest and most on-target skits that I have ever seen on SNL. They actually got more right than the main stream media usually does. You can imagine my surprise when I tried to show this to a friend today that the following appeared on my screen:

It seems that NBC has been pressured by the principals being depicted to remove it. It lampoons billionaire George Soros (calls him the owner of the Democratic Party), Herbert & Marion Sandler (As Todd Thurman at Heritage notes, the Sandlers are left-wing moguls who built “a mortgage company whose major product was subprime mortgages and they sold it to Wachovia for $24.2 billion in 2006), Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, and yes, even President Bush. It seems that it is OK to make fun of Sarah Palin and most Republicans, but if you poke fun at the Democrats you will incur the wrath of the powers that be.

But there are still some sites out there that have been able to keep this alive. I encourage you to go to CLICK HERE and watch the skit. You will be glad you did.

UPDATE: Evidently NBC has given in to the criticism and has reposted the clip. You can view it on NBC HERE
